EN8 is a medium carbon steel that typically contains 0.35–0.45% carbon and 0.60–1.00% manganese, along with small amounts of silicon, sulfur, and phosphorus. It strikes a great balance between strength, toughness, and machinability. In its untreated state, EN8 boasts a tensile strength of 550–700 MPa and a yield strength of around 280–370 MPa. When heat-treated (hardened and tempered), its strength sees a significant boost.
