ASME SA 387 Grade 5 Class 1/2 sheets and plates are made from alloy steels that mainly consist of Chromium (4.00–6.00%) and Molybdenum (0.45–0.65%), which enhance their resistance to high temperatures and corrosion. The carbon content is between 0.15–0.20%, along with added manganese, phosphorus, sulfur, and silicon. In terms of mechanical properties, these plates deliver a minimum tensile strength of 380–585 MPa, a yield strength of around 205 MPa, and a minimum elongation of 20%.
