EN24, often referred to as AISI 4340 or 817M40, is a robust alloy steel that contains around 0.36–0.44% carbon, 0.45–0.70% manganese, 0.10–0.35% silicon, 0.70–1.00% chromium, 1.65–2.00% nickel, and 0.20–0.35% molybdenum. It boasts an impressive ultimate tensile strength of 850–1000 MPa and a yield strength of 680–880 MPa when quenched and tempered. EN24 is known for its remarkable toughness, high fatigue resistance, and solid wear properties.
